This Steffen blank I built with a Garrison style grip, Struble down locking nickel silver reel seat with Cocobola insert, Perfection brand snake guides, Mildrum srmc stripping guide and Chinese red silk guide wraps with black gossamer tipping.

Steffen Bros 8'3" 5/6wt
Another fly rod made from one of Mark Steffen’s awesome 5/6 wt blanks. Struble nickel silver D8 reel seat hardware with Imbuya wood insert, modified cigar cork grip, Mildrum nickel silver frame carbide ring stripping guide and Perfection brand snake guides and tip top complete the rod. Guides wrapped with YLI silk beige thread tipped black, hook keeper wrapped with YLI white silk thread.
This one is sweet. A little more full flexing then it’s 8' 5/6 wt cousin probably due to the additional length. Cast 5 and 6 wt lines equally well though I preferred it with a wf6wt line. Great all around trout rod. Nickel silver Struble D8 reel seat hardware with brown toned pice of Amboyna I spun on the lathe. 7? cork grip, Perfection brand snake guides and Mildrum stripper wrapped with YLI silk rust red, tipped in black.
After finishing this fly rod for a Gentleman in Texas I took it out back to lawn cast it a bit and immediately fell in love with it’s smooth, lively action. The Perfection brand snake guides and Mildrum stripper are wrapped in YLI Chinese red silk thread and tipped with Gossamer Claret. Reel seat is REC crn nickel silver hardware with a Amboyna wood insert I turned on the lathe.
Another fly rod out of the Gypsy Rod Works shop built on Mark Steffen’s sublime 7'9" 3/4 wt blank. Grip style has it’s roots in the F.E Thomas all cork grip found on F.E.T bamboo rods. Wood insert hand made from Pau Ferro; a wood commonly used in musical instruments. Bellinger .690 nickel silver cap and band reel seat hardware, Mildrum carbide striping guide, light wire snake guides and tip top complete the rod.
